My writing, editing, organizational and communication skills have enabled me to work effectively on diverse publishing projects. I have managed the publication of high-end magazines and also large book projects, both in-house and as a freelancer. I am an experienced writer and have served as the editor and copyeditor of college-level textbooks, children’s books, cookbooks and novels. I am also a writer of celebrity profiles, restaurant reviews, roundup and research pieces and current-event coverage. Freelance Writer and Editor-at-Large for Atlanta Best Media. Currently, I’m writing and editing for multiple magazines and clients. I serve as a writer and copyeditor for My Home Improvement magazine and several monthly hyper-local magazines in the Atlanta area as well. I write food-related articles, travel articles, celebrity profiles, interior and exterior design articles, roundup articles, advertisement copy, human-interest articles—and whatever else my clients dream up!

Managing Editor, Atlanta Home Improvement Magazine, Atlanta, Georgia (2015–2017). I served as managing editor of Atlanta Home Improvement, a monthly flagship magazine. I was tasked with developing the editorial program for 12 quarterly hyper-local magazines that all launched in a six-month period. I also managed the rebranding process of the editorial program for Atlanta Home Improvement magazine to create the new magazine My Home Improvement. I conceptualized content and story ideas for the annual editorial calendar for print and online issues. My responsibilities included writing feature articles, assigning articles to freelance writers, analyzing content opportunities, scheduling and directing photo shoots, choosing photography and maintaining the monthly budget. I copyedited all editorial and advertorial content prior to press, coordinated with the ad account executives to write and edit ads and to create post-press content. I supervised the staff of in-house writers, editorial assistants, bloggers and interns. I also represented the magazine in the Atlanta community at events, fundraisers and news conferences.

Managing Editor, South Magazine, Savannah, Georgia (2014–2015). I conceptualized, assigned, researched, budgeted, edited and wrote feature articles for the print and digital content of this 200-page bimonthly magazine. I managed photo shoots, wrote advertising copy and copyedited editorial content prior to press. I coordinated with the art director and supervised the advertising director and staff of in-house and freelance writers, bloggers and interns. I also represented the magazine in the Savannah community at events, fundraisers and news conferences.

Founding Owner, Plans for Plants Landscape Design, LLC, San Diego, California (2003–2014). I provided landscape-design services to residential clients. I was responsible for all the design elements for many styles of gardens and architecture (from cottage gardens to ultra-modern spaces). I coordinated the work of hardscape and softscape contractors during design installation. My indoor and outdoor garden installations have been featured on residential garden tours for the San Diego Horticulture Society, San Diego Sustainable Landscape Association and Scripps Ranch Garden Club. I also maintained content for my website.

Owner, The Page Group, Inc., San Diego, California (1994–2003). I provided editing, proofreading, photo-research, typesetting, page-layout, cover design and printing services to corporate and individual clients publishing cookbooks, technical manuals, novels, textbooks and related ancillary materials. I edited texts to comply with Chicago Manual of Style or AP Stylebook and in-house style sheets.

Owner/Event Planner,, San Diego, California (1996–2003). I created a comprehensive event-planning business that offered charters and events aboard mega-yachts and other charter boats. I managed both the marketing and planning of events for individuals and corporations, such as Sea World, Microsoft and Johnson & Johnson. Sales leads were generated through my company website. I coordinated catering, entertainment, wedding planning, theme events and ground transportation. I also maintained content for the company website.

Editor & Writer, San Diego Home/Garden Magazine, San Diego, California (1993–1994). I wrote feature articles and event listings for this regional monthly magazine. I was responsible for a 30-page pull-out feature called “Around San Diego,” with event listings and celebrity profiles. I obtained photos and art, wrote articles, maintained deadlines, photographed featured events and supervised interns. I also reported on events citywide.

Art Editor, College Production Dept., Harcourt Brace & Jovanovich, Inc., San Diego, California (1987–1993). I directed the art and photo programs for college textbooks in math, science, English, French, social studies, religion, history and economics. I was responsible for both the budget and production schedules. I also acted as a liaison between freelance artists and the in-house production team. I researched and obtained illustrations and photos from art resources worldwide. I delegated production tasks to junior art editors and assistants.
